On the squeezer of a plastic washing line, the motor drives a slow-turning screw through a gearbox, and its hardest moment is the start, when it tries to turn a screw that is full ... More Details
On a plastic injection moulding machine, the hydraulic pump motor is not selected from the clamping force or the machine tonnage, but from the pump displacement, the system pressur... More Details
When replacing the motor of a plastic extruder, the first value to look at is not power but the torque required by the screw shaft. An extruder screw is a constant-torque load that... More Details
What strains the motor most in a tyre shredding machine is not the average load but the short, hard torque shocks that occur at the moments when rubber and steel wire break between... More Details
In a plastic shredder the rotor turns only a few dozen revolutions per minute, but it needs very high torque to tear the material. This torque is not produced by the motor alone bu... More Details
In a barn manure scraper, the motor is part of a drive unit that works very slowly but with very high pulling force. For a correct selection, before the motor power, the output spe... More Details
There is no single "seed cleaner motor" in a seed cleaning and grading machine; the machine consists of several motors, each carrying a different load: the drive that shakes the si... More Details
In a purifier (semolina cleaning machine), motor selection depends on how the machine shakes its sieve box. If the sieve box is driven by an eccentric shaft and a belt, a standard ... More Details
In a plansifter the sieve box does not rotate; it performs a circular oscillation in the horizontal plane, and this motion is produced by an eccentric counterweight turned by the m... More Details
When a packaging conveyor stops and starts dozens or even hundreds of times an hour, the deciding factor in motor selection is not the nameplate power but the heat that builds up i... More Details
Motor selection for a washed food conveyor starts with how much water the motor will be exposed to and by which cleaning method. A standard three-phase motor with IP55 protection c... More Details
On a low-speed conveyor, the choice between a 4-pole and a 6-pole motor does not change the torque that pulls the belt at the gearbox output; for the same power and the same drum s... More Details
Motor selection for an inclined conveyor differs from a horizontal belt in two respects: the power needed to lift the material is added to the calculation, and an arrangement is ne... More Details
Motor selection for a rotary drum screen starts with the speed at which the drum must turn; the gearbox ratio is calculated backwards from that speed. Drum speed is kept at a certa... More Details
Before choosing the motor for a crate conveyor, two things need to be clear: how many crates must pass per hour, and whether stopping of the line is to be handled by the motor or b... More Details
Selecting a motor for a roller conveyor rests on three questions: at what speed the line will flow, what load the rollers will carry with what friction, and by which route the driv... More Details
On an industrial high-pressure car wash machine, the pump motor is selected from the speed, flow and pressure the pump requires; the machine's appearance or the kW value of the old... More Details
When replacing a car lift motor, two checks cause more trouble than power and speed: how the hydraulic pump is attached to the motor and the duty regime in which the lift runs the ... More Details
On a hydraulic guillotine shear, the pump motor is selected not for the peak power at the hardest moment of the cut, but for the equivalent (thermal) load over the whole cutting cy... More Details
When the motor of a press brake's hydraulic unit is replaced, flange and coupling compatibility is checked at three points: the new motor's flange must seat in the spigot recess an... More Details
