The torque values below are the catalogue values of HEM Motor’s own three-phase motors. Alongside the rated torque, we also give the starting and breakdown torque in Nm, calculated from the catalogue ratios, so you can compare them directly with what your machine needs.
Same power, different speed: how does torque change?
At constant power, torque rises as speed falls. For the 7.5 kW motors in our catalogue, rated torque at 3000 rpm is 24.4 Nm, at 1500 rpm 49.1 Nm, at 1000 rpm 73.8 Nm. This is why 1500 or 1000 rpm motors are usually preferred for machines with a high starting load, such as conveyors, mixers and crushers.
At the same power, a 1000 rpm motor has about three times the torque of a 3000 rpm motor.
What do the columns mean?
Rated torque (Mn): The torque the motor delivers continuously at full load.
Starting torque: The torque the motor can deliver when starting from standstill (Mn × Ts/Tn).
Breakdown torque: The highest short-term torque the motor can carry without stalling (Mn × Tmax/Tn).
If the torque (Nm) and speed your machine needs are known, choose a motor whose rated torque is above that value and whose starting torque covers the machine’s break-away load. For applications with a gearbox, the gear ratio must also be taken into account. If you are not sure, call us on +90 532 345 49 86.
The cards show example models related to the topic. A suitable motor is not chosen by power alone: compare speed, voltage, mounting, shaft and connection dimensions on the product page; if unsure, send a photo of the existing motor’s nameplate on WhatsApp.
The models below are real products from our store; they are not presented as a definite fit for every machine. The final choice depends on the machine maker’s data, the load, the drive arrangement and the operating conditions.
The IEC frame number gives the height from the motor's foot base to the shaft centre in millimetres. In the HEM Motor sales range, the small frames between 63 and 112 mostly carry ... More Details
When replacing a motor in a tight installation space, the same IEC frame code alone is not a sufficient guarantee. The frame code defines shaft height, foot hole spacing and shaft ... More Details
When replacing a car lift motor, two checks cause more trouble than power and speed: how the hydraulic pump is attached to the motor and the duty regime in which the lift runs the ... More Details
When the motor of a press brake's hydraulic unit is replaced, flange and coupling compatibility is checked at three points: the new motor's flange must seat in the spigot recess an... More Details
On many machines that have run for years, the belt-and-pulley arrangement is questioned because of its maintenance burden: the belt stretches, needs re-tensioning, the pulley groov... More Details
When the motor of a geared drive fails, the gearbox is usually sound and stays in place; only the motor is replaced. In that case the new motor has to match two things at once: the... More Details
