If you are building a new machine, planning the gearbox and motor as one package leaves the fewest surprises: motor power, number of poles and ratio are chosen together, and the input flange and shaft bore match from the outset. The M-HEM and HF pages state that these series can be paired with HEM Motor electric motors and shipped as complete geared motors.
If you want to use the motor you already have, compare the following with the gearbox input:
- IEC frame number (e.g. 80, 90, 100) and flange type: B5 or B14,
- shaft diameter, shaft length and key size,
- motor power and speed: within the range accepted by the gearbox frame,
- the motor's operating position: horizontal or vertical.
If the match is doubtful, sending a photo of the motor and gearbox nameplates avoids dimension mix-ups. For suitable motors see electric motors for gearboxes, and for the general picture the geared electric motor page.
