The terminal connection of the motor is chosen according to the inverter output voltage on the motor side, not the mains. The winding must see the voltage stated on the nameplate in the correct connection.

Three-phase 400 V3 × 400 VStar (Y)Delta (Δ)

In the HEM catalogue, ratings of 3 kW and below are wound for 230/400 V and ratings of 4 kW and above for 400/690 V. For example, the 2.2 kW 100L1-4 motor is rated 230/400 V and the 7.5 kW 132M-4 motor 400/690 V (Δ/Y). Check the nameplate of your own motor before connecting.

Driving a 400/690 V motor from a single-phase-input inverter with 3 × 230 V output is not suitable: the winding sees far less voltage than required, the magnetic flux weakens and the motor cannot deliver its torque. The opposite mistake is dangerous too; connecting a 230/400 V motor in delta on a 400 V output overvoltages the winding.

For terminal links and mains-side connections, see the motor connection and starting questions guide.
