In most facilities motors account for the largest share of the electricity bill, and this is exactly where the IE3 class earns its place. IE3 defines the premium efficiency tier in IEC 60034-30-1 and certifies how little energy a motor wastes at rated load. In an IE3 motor, copper, iron and friction losses are reduced. In practice you feel this in three ways: a lower running temperature, quieter operation and a visibly smaller energy bill at year-end. Thanks to standard IEC frame sizes it drops straight into the place of an older motor, so no extra mechanical rework is needed for the switch.
